The Tiger District is a new retail establishment located at the
north gates of Louisiana State University. The store’s interior
was designed to identify with LSU traditions while defining the
Tiger District’s individual corporate identity with the goal
of positioning the Tiger District for long-term success. Traditional
purple and gold school colors were used within the design, but
not in traditional applications. Clear finished MDF wall panels
were applied to the vertical surfaces, acting as dividers among
areas within the retail space and representing the “gold” of
LSU. The perimeter soffit was painted with “LSU purple,” visually
tying each merchandise area to the store as a whole. The mobile
fixtures were cost effective and allowed for various merchandising
solutions. Because of budget limitations, the existing concrete
slab was used to anchor the store’s interior design. This
project represents the use of appropriate store design, merchandising,
and materials to give the client his desired results within budget.
